Blood flow restriction (BFR) training describes a painful method of facilitating blood pooling in extremities to elicit an enhanced physiological adaptation. Rowers in this study used BFR on their legs for 20 minutes three times per week during low intensity erging and rowing and found a significant improvement in VO2 max compared to controls. Could increasing performance be that simple?
